A year later a more robust clutch-based model was patented and released. In 1962 the four wheeled 440-model loader was introduced. This became the “standard” for Bobcat to develop future models. In 1962, the Kellers Uncle, who was an equipment dealer, came up with the name Bobcat due to the “tough, quick, and agile” performance of the machines. As the company grew, so did demand and Bobcat has grown to become recognized as not just a leader in the light equipment, skid-steer loader market, but as a role model for other business’ as well.
